Identity verification

Why we verify writers, which documents we accept, and how your data is protected.

Last updated 1 January 2026

Why verification exists

Verification prevents duplicate accounts and payout fraud, and it satisfies the compliance requirements of our payment partners.

You can write, submit and publish before verifying. Verification is only required to withdraw funds.

Accepted documents

A government-issued passport, national ID card or driving licence, plus a selfie holding the document. Names must match your legal name on the platform.

Images must be uncropped, unedited and legible. Blurred or partially covered documents are returned for resubmission.

How your documents are handled

Documents are uploaded to private storage that is not publicly readable. Only the compliance reviewer handling your case and you can open them, through short-lived signed links.

Documents are never used for marketing, never shared with other writers, and are deleted once the retention period required by payment law has passed.

Outcomes

Approved verification unlocks withdrawals permanently. A rejected submission always includes a reason and can be corrected and resubmitted.
